City of Craft 2011!

It's here, it's happening, it's City of Craft! See you there very soon and then once again at Snow Angel, an evening of heartwarming music. <3

Happy December First!

I have many scoops to share with you today. Firstly, some product shots for the upcoming City of Craft! You will have the chance to see them and caress them at The Theatre Centre on December 10th & 11th, please drop by and say hello!

Also happening on Saturday, December 10th is a holiday concert, Snow Angel with my Choir Univox. The concert will feature stunning works by local composers Sarah Quartel and Ben Ji-Soo Kim. Quartel's Snow Angel is a beautiful and unique piece that incorporates dramatic narratives between choral music and piano, cello and percussion accompaniment. We are honoured to welcome Samuel Bisson on cello once again this year. We are also incredibly fortunate to perform a carol composed by new Toronto resident Ben Ji-Soo Kim, an accomplished composer who has had works published with Earthworks and premiered by the renowned Los Angeles Master Chorale. The Concert will also include contemporary favourites, Ave Maria - Franz Biebl, A Hymn to the Virgin, and Stroope's All My Heart this Night Rejoices.

Below is a little advertisement I designed with the Univox board members.

Lastly, a little tease from a project I'm so thrilled to be a part of with Kid Icarus and many other charming artists. It is a Handprinted Calendar comprised of twelve artists who have been given complete freedom with the only limiting factor of using two colours for their chosen month. It will go on sale on December 4th at Kid Icarus storefront in Kensington Market, but an early copy will be available at Handmade Holiday on December 3rd, St. Stephen-in-the-Fields. There are only 100 copies for sale!

Canzine 2011

La La is the happiest bunny when I am preparing for a zine fair. During the process, many pieces of paper accidentally fly off of my desk and he darts after them excitedly. Below are some of the goods you'll get to see on Sunday at Canzine {bunny not included, sorry}.

Location: 918 Bathurst Centre, 918 Bathurst St. Toronto
Date: Sunday, October 23rd
Time: 1 - 7 PM

Hope to see you there!

PIN

I created this piece for Gallery Nucleus' Power in Numbers online gallery. All pieces in the sale measures 5"x7" and are priced at $50 or $100. A charitable organization of the artist's choice will receive a portion of the proceeds from each sale. A fraction of my sale will benefit the Red Cross.

On another exciting note, Canzine is happening this Sunday, October 23rd, from 1PM to 7PM. This year the festival will be held at 918 Bathurst Centre. See below, the event poster by the lovely Hyein, for more details!

Washi Paper

I recently did a little painting on a 6 x 8" piece of Washi paper. It will be displayed alongside many other pieces of beautiful work this Thursday, September 8, at 8:30 PM at The Paper Place. Also on the same night, Carly Waito will be having her solo show opening at Narwhal Art Projects from 7 - 10 PM, which I have been longing to attend! Hope you can make it too!

A New Look

You might have noticed a few changes to my blog, this is perhaps my way to embrace the arrival of my newly designed website! For the past few months, I worked with the marvellous Jenny Kapichen, who built the back-end of my new site. She was also my design consultant whenever I was troubled over the site's layout. I am delighted with how it turned out and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do. You can contact Jenny by clicking the small icon that reads "K" at the bottom of the site!

Bunnies and many more bunnies

It's been hot hot hot in Toronto! And if you're in the city, I hope you're enjoying it a lot! I want to share my pieces from Smiling Antimatter exhibited at Steam Whistle Brewing Gallery back in June. Some of you may recognize the piece above - 'Her View' and the b/w piece below - 'First Stop', they appeared separately in two different issues of The Wilding curated by Fiona Smyth! The colourful piece below - 'Smooth Ride' is one of my latest creations. The Bunny Train on an adventure! Choo Choo~

Sneak Peaks

Thank you for coming out to see our show at the Steam Whistle Wednesday evening, your support means a great deal to us.. In return, I hope you enjoyed some of our warm sweaty hugs through out the night. Above are two process shots of one of my three pieces in the show. You can check out the artwork, for the first time or second time during the entire month of June! Upon my return from the Steam Whistle exhibition opening, below is what I worked on for Romance of the Wheel, opening tomorrow evening, 9PM at Jet Fuel Coffee Shop. Can't wait to see some of your faces again, twice in a week!

Happening Soon

It would be so lovely to see all of you at the two gallery show openings next week! Firstly, the Steam Whistle has been very kind in providing us their beautiful space for the second time. So on June 1st, it will be the opening reception to "Smiling Antimatter", a mixed media group exhibition. Then after a day's rest, we will be celebrating bike month at Jet Fuel Coffee Shop on June 3rd for the opening of the group exhibition, "Romance of the Wheel - Love, Hate and Cycling". I cannot wait!

And since I've been so hard at work at home, I've had many encounters with this tiny bunny in my back garden. Of course, while I should be working, I'm eyeing his every move, he has done the bunny dance under heavy rain and been eating as much dandelion leaves as he possibly can.

Winter Portrait

Above is a winter scene created for The Walrus which accompanied gift subscriptions during the holidays.

I returned home from vacation to find that my mother had the family of lavender pouches placed directly beneath the photo of each family member they were intended to portray. Feeling inspired, I put together the image below.
